If you wish to soak up the sun to the sound of the sea, you can choose between sandy beaches or rocky coves. Simply dip your toes in the water, take a boat trip along the coast or out to the Îles d’Hyères, a tourist’s dream. A drive along the Esterel coast is well worth the effort as the scenery is breathtaking. The Var has more than 400 kilometres of coast with 230 beaches and bays along the Mediterranean, one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world that will take your breath away. Whatever type of beach you prefer, you will find it here. From the east end of the Var, the Esterel mountains tower over the red rock seaside town of Agay. Further west are Saint-Raphael and Frejus, two seaside towns with ice-cream parlours and shops. Les Issambres and Saint-Aygulf are next with fine golden sand and clear waters all the way to Saint-Maxime then on to Saint-Tropez and Ramatuelle.
