Wine tasting

Set in the heart of Provence, the Var’s vineyards are the oldest in France. The Phoenicians introduced the first vines into Provence around 600 BC. The vineyards expanded under Roman rule and the first wines produced were rosés. Wine production is a timehonoured tradition here and the Var is currently the world’s leading producer of fine roséwines, born from long experience and in-depth research, focusing first and foremost on quality. But Provence doesn’t just produce roséwines – its reds and whites are also highly regarded.
The Var is home to no less than three Appellations d’Origine Contrôlée: Bandol, Côtes de Provence and Côteaux Varois.
