Var Villa Holidays have done it again!
Having booked previously with Sue at Var Villa Holidays and been very impressed with everything the first time around, I did not hesitate to call her with this year’s challenge. We wanted a property (not too expensive!) to accommodate two families for a week in the ideal location of Le Muy in the (always sunny) South of France. This area is perfect, as you are away from all the congestion of the coastal towns but with fast access, as there is a new (still relatively undiscovered) road to the coast (St Maxime - 45 mins). Being a little inland you also have the opportunity to head north into the ‘Gorges du Verdon’ with its beautiful scenery and the wonderful lake (lac du St Croix). Here there are many places offering Wartersports of all kinds as well as the stunning scenery (which makes even the journey a pleasure!).

Sue recommended a detached villa ‘La Bastide’ which was lovely. The house sits with a view across the valleys and vineyards and is remarkably quiet and tranquil. I say this as it is in fact only a kilometre or so to the town of ‘Les Arcs sur Argens’, close enough that if you feel the need for a night out then you can actually walk to the restaurants! The property has everything that you need for a very relaxing week, it has a variety of areas for alfresco cooking and eating, as well as spots for swinging in a hammock and reading (bring your own hammock). There is also a large pebbled drive which doubles as a challenging and interesting ‘Boule’evard. As a final comment for the area in general, within my party there were some keen golfers (and some not so keen) and it is worth mentioning the absolutely beautiful course at St Endreol. This is a course where they will allow you to ‘Pay and Play’ and you can hire a buggy if the hills look a little daunting. Beware though, our consensus was that this in no ‘touristy pushover’ course and I advise you to take one or two more balls than you might anticipate! It is however, stunning to look at and has a lovely terrace outside the club house which overlooks the course and distant hills. A great place end to your round and have some well-earned refreshment, whether in celebration or to drown the memory!

Thanks again Sue, hopefully we’ll be back again sometime.
